Porsche diagnostics in Norcross, GA.

Most expensive repairs start with a wrong guess. A symptom gets treated as the problem, parts get thrown at it, and the real cause is still there when the car comes back. On a Porsche, where parts and labor aren’t cheap and originality matters, that trial and error adds up fast, in money and in wear.

RS Motorwerks provides Porsche diagnostics for all models from 1948 to present, with unique expertise in classic air-cooled models. We approach every job diagnosis-first, combining hands-on Porsche experience with the right testing to isolate what’s actually happening, whether it’s mechanical, electrical, fueling or ignition, and we don’t stop at the first plausible answer. The goal is the root cause, not the nearest symptom.

You get a clear explanation of what we found and what it will take to put it right, before the work begins. If you want us to carry out the repair, the same team follows it through in-house. If you’d rather take the findings elsewhere, that’s your call to make.

What Porsche diagnostics covers

From an intermittent misfire to a no-start, we work methodically through the car to find the cause, not just the symptom, so the repair that follows is aimed at the right thing.

Drivability & running faults

Misfires, hesitation, stalling and rough idle traced back to the real source rather than masked with a tune-up.

Electrical & charging

Wiring, grounds, charging and starting issues on aging harnesses, where decades of repairs and heat often hide the fault.

Fueling & ignition

Carbureted and injected systems, timing and spark diagnosed in detail, so the mixture and spark are actually right.

Overheating & oil temp

Airflow, oil cooling and coolant-system concerns investigated according to your Porsche’s engine design.

Noises & vibrations

Isolating where a knock, whine or vibration is genuinely coming from, instead of replacing parts hoping it goes quiet.

No-start & intermittent faults

The hard ones that come and go, chased down systematically instead of by expensive parts-swapping.

Experience the scan tool can’t give you.

Porsche diagnostics requires both model-specific knowledge and appropriate testing. Modern cars provide electronic fault information, while classic air-cooled models require particular familiarity with their mechanical and electrical systems. In either case, we investigate the cause behind the symptoms before recommending repairs.

Our Porsche experience, including unique expertise in classic air-cooled models, helps us interpret the findings and avoid unnecessary parts replacement.

Common Questions

Diagnose, then decide

A diagnosis should give you options, not just a bill. We separate finding the fault from fixing it, so you stay in control of what happens next.

Common Questions

Porsche diagnostics FAQ

Do you charge for diagnostics?

Diagnostic work takes time and expertise, so it’s typically a paid service rather than a free guess. We’ll explain the approach and what’s involved before we start, so there are no surprises.

My car runs, but something feels off. Is that worth bringing in?

Yes. Small changes in how a car runs, sounds or feels are often the earliest sign of a developing fault. Catching it at that stage usually means a smaller, cheaper repair than waiting for it to fail outright.

I’ve had it looked at elsewhere and the problem’s still there. Can you help?

Often, yes. Recurring faults that survived a previous repair usually mean the original diagnosis missed the real cause. We’ll start fresh and work it methodically rather than assume the last answer was right.

Do you diagnose newer water-cooled Porsche models too?

Yes. We service all Porsche models from 1948 to present, including newer water-cooled models, and have unique expertise in classic air-cooled Porsches. Contact us with your model, year and symptoms to arrange a diagnosis.

Will you fix it, or just tell me what’s wrong?

Both, and it’s your choice. Once you’ve seen the diagnosis, we can carry out the repair in-house, or you can take the report and decide separately.
